Aalayah (protagonist, age 18, Napnei) is a Palace Guard, which is an elite soldier dedicated to protecting the royal family and royal palace. She joined the Guard to escape her arranged marriage and bound home life, following her secret desire for adventure.
Namesha (age 47, Napnei) is queen of the Napnei people. She is one of the most powerful Sorceresses in the world. Namesha suffered a particularly traumatic past and also because of her royal status she holds a strong sense of self-entitlement. She can be rude, dismissive, and mean spirited but deep inside all of that there is compassion struggling to express itself.
Tangaroa (age 37, Multia) is a skilled and famous seafarer and adventurer. He is one of the few that owns his own ship. Tangaroa hates the problems of the world, believing that they are caused by selfishness and corruption. Adventuring and exploring is his escapism.

Darius (age 47, Napnei) (antagonist) was former Captain of the Palace Guard until he was discharged from the military and exiled from his nation due to an undisclosed crime. His is highly egotistical, loves power, and takes pleasure in chaos, usually instigating chaotic situations. He wields a rudimentary firearm that is not native to his country.
Khanjit (age 23, Zaneer) is a high nobleman from Diheru. He is an extreme narcissist who becomes intensely frustrated when things do not go his way. He allows this frustration to develop into hatred toward reality, and exerts that hatred to justify his narcissistic tendencies.
Nasari (age 20, Multia) is prince of a Multia, a nation composed of a series of islands. He holds strong contempt for his father, the king, but a strong love for his mother, who was recently killed. His mother's death unleashed suppressed emotions setting him on his current path of evil.
